Two Benefits of Intermittent Fasting | 3 Week Fasting Update

It has been three weeks since I quit eating breakfast and I can already see a difference. Can you say, “hello obliques”? Here is an update on my adventure in Intermittent Fasting.

Intermittent Fasting is an approach to nutrition where you reduce your caloric intact by including periods of fasting. The research I found pointed towards a common goal: lean muscle gains. Three weeks ago I quit eating breakfast and have been regularly going through periods of fasted states and fed states. Even after three short weeks I have found two benefits of intermittent fasting.

#1 – Awareness

The first benefit of Intermittent fasting is an increased awareness of how I think about food. During my fasted state I have been intentional about what types of foods I long for and when those urges start. That awareness has helped me look back and realize why I would eat (consume all I could find) extra snacks.

What I found is that I used to think that I had to eat and eat frequently. Instead Intermittent fasting has helped me refocus, drink more water, and enjoy being full during my fed state.

I didn’t imagine this benefit from fasting. I had imagined periods of crankiness and all out hunger. Instead I’ve learned how to be aware of my body’s needs.

#2 – Definition

The second benefit of intermittent fasting is abdominal definition – ta dah. Well I’m not saying I have an eight pack and am shredded. But there is a visible difference in the appearance of my external obliques. There are cool lumps of muscles popping out on the sides of my abdominals.

This isn’t solely from intermittent fasting, muscles must be built. But the second benefit of intermittent fasting is improved muscle definition. That soft layer of insulation is going away.

Intermittent Fasting Benefits

Let me know what you think. Have you tried intermittent fasting? What were your first benefits?

Did you find that the first two key benefits from intermittent fasting were awareness and definition?

As always I’d appreciate some social love; give a digg, tweet, stumbl, like, and top it off with a comment. Your feedback helps me know how to help you better.
