April is coming and I’m taking on two challenges for the month: milk and kettlebell swings. Milk is a great recovery and muscle building drink, so I’ve started consuming 32 oz every day. Also during the month I’m going to do over 10,000 kettlebell swings.
Join me in my milk and swing challenge.
Got Milk
I’ve wanted to try supplements for my post-workout fuel, but couldn’t justify the expense. Then I read an article from Alan at Body Recomposition comparing Milk to supplements. Check this quote:
I have no vested interest in glorifying chocolate milk, nor do I stand to benefit by vilifying Surge. My goal was to objectively examine the facts. Using research as the judge, chocolate milk was superior or equal to Surge in all categories.
… I personally would go for the higher quality, lower price, and strength of the scientific evidence. Chocolate milk it is.
The bottom line is that milk, specifically chocolate milk, is a great supplement to build muscle. After reading several more pages, I’m convinced enough to give it a shot. I’m going to consume 16 oz two times per day. One in the morning right after my workouts, then another with dinner.
That amount isn’t as extreme as the amounts prescribed in the GOMAD, Gallon of Milk A Day, program. But that just sounds like too much – both in amount of milk and price. What can I say, I’m cheap. So I’m going to compromise – and go for 32 oz of chocolate milk a day.
10,000 Swings
This challenge is from Aaron from Northern Colorado Kettlebell. He posted the challenge on his blog and on his facebook page.
The challenge is simple, but will be tough. Perform the 1,000 Kettlebell Swing workout at least 10 times in the month.
The swing is one of the foundational movements with the kettlebell. It builds power in your legs, hips, and core and is know for stoking the fat burning furnace where you keep burning fat for hours after the workout is over.
I’m excited for the challenge. I am planning to start with my 24kg kettlebell, but am hoping to be able to move up to my 28kg kettlebell later in the month. I’m so thankful that I was able to get more kettlebells.
(Thinking of Facebook, I’ve created a page for Cube.Dweller.Fitness so find me there too.)
Will you join me in April. My two-fold challenge is milk and 10,000+ swings.
