This is day 10 of the German Volume section of Mike Mahler’s program. The German Volume Training (GVT) portion has pushed me and helped me add weight. (See the articles tagged with GVT.)
Add More Weight
Every time I go out to do one of these workouts I want to see increase. But doing ten sets is a long workout. When I add more weight I wonder how it will go. Today was one of those successful days. I added more weight.
The Workout
The workout consists of three exercise; yup, that’s it, just three. But ten sets of ten for the first two and three sets of ten for the last.
- Double Kettlebell Squats – I added weight up from 16kg/20kg pair to using 20kg/24kg pair. (I know I need more kettlebells.)
- Double Kettlebell Swings – This one I was already maxed out on weight with my 20kg/24kg pair, but I increased the rep count to finish not ten, but twelve reps per set.
- High-Low Windmill – This is the exercise that drops down to three sets of ten per side. This is an awesome core building movement. I stayed with the 20kg/24kg kettlebell pair, keeping the heavy bell on the bottom. I nailed ten for all of the sets.
When your doing your workouts are you adding more weight each time?
Adding more weight is what keeps you moving and improving. Otherwise we all tend to get stuck at plateaus. Push through those plateaus and add more weight.
(Did I mention I need to buy some more kettlebells?)
