Write For Us

First I want to thank you for your interest in writing a guest post for Cube.Dweller.Fitness.

Cube.Dweller.Fitness started out as one-man’s dream to make a difference, but is much more than that. Fitness and health is a broad topic supported by a vibrant community of brilliant people. Cube.Dweller.Fitness is an extension of that community here to help people break out of cubes to live vibrantly. I’d love to have you involved!

I get pitched a lot of guest posts, and we’re not able to use everything that’s submitted. When I review posts, I’m looking for posts that:

  • readible and helpful – something that can educate and inspire
  • unique – could be the voice, perspective, or insight
  • valuable – expose new research, remind us of core principles, or express truths from a different angle.
  • actionable – the content should help our readers take action, even small simple steps to make a difference in their lives.

Don’t take it personally if guest post submissions aren’t accepted. I may decline to use your post because it duplicates other recent posts, we are already overflowing with fresh content to post (not likely), the post lacks relevance, or it fails to present information in a new and actionable way.

Guest Author Sites

As a guest author I’d like to promote people. That means if you don’t have a gravatar, hide behind strange profile names, or only link to spammy sites … don’t waste our time.

With Google’s Rich Snippets I am hoping to support that for Guest Authors as well. That means sharing your Google+ profile, you do have a Google+ Profile don’t you. Circle me, Troy Pesola – Google+ and say hello.

Highlight some of your best work. Show me who you are when you submit a request. That ensures that Cube.Dweller.Fitness readers can see who they are learning from; let’s make it real.

Guest Posting Guidelines

To help you in the process of crafting your guest post and improve the chances of it being published quickly, I’ve put together a few guidelines and suggestions for you below.

Before you submit a guest post article, please make sure it:

  1. conveys quality, actionable advice presented with Cube.Dweller.Fitness readers in mind
  2. is exclusive content for use on Cube.Dweller.Fitness
  3. includes everything you want published – all the information—links, link text, reusable images, etc.
  4. links to credible third-party sources where appropriate
  5. Images that help explain your post.
    • Send in your own images.
    • Contains a link and artist attribution for each image you’ve included (I recommend using ImageCodr to find Creative Commons images.)
  6. infringes no copyright laws, either in terms of text or images
  7. includes a headline, body text, your byline, and an image.
    • Use html tags as appropriate: h1, h2, h3, ul, and ol
  8. Include meta information that you think is relevant:
    • Cube.Dweller.Fitness Category or Categories
    • Cube.Dweller.Fitness Tag(s)
    • Meta-description – your short description of the article
    • Meta-keywords – what keywords are addressed in the post

Once your post is ready, submit it through our contact form. You can also pitch ideas there.

Content Exclusivity

When you submit a post to Cube.Dweller.Fitness let’s keep it as unique content for the site. Sure you can express your expertise and thoughts on other sites, but my hope is that your guest post submissions to Cube.Dweller.Fitness don’t appear in the same form anywhere else.

Cube.Dweller.Fitness Topics

Posts work best on Cube.Dweller.Fitness are aimed at helping people live vibrantly and break out of any cube boxing them in. The Cube.Dweller.Fitness core topics include:

  • Fitness
    • Workouts – Cardio, Metabolic, & Strength
    • Recovery
    • Nutrition
    • Equipment
  • Life
    • Adventures
    • Gear
    • Motivation

But that framework allows for a lot of freedom. Bring your creativity and expertise to the task at inspiring and equipping others to live vibrantly, boldly, and a more healthy life one post at a time.

Cube.Dweller.Fitness readers love actionable, practical, and empathetic advice. Give our readers information that they can apply in their own lives immediately, and you’ll be popular here. Presenting theories are fine if there is still something to “do”; knowledge for knowledge sake isn’t helpful here.

Writing Style and Voice

I’m offering you a chance to join the effort to help people change their lives, to remember there’s life outside the box. When you write, write like you, bring your personality and passion to the post. Write in your own style and voice.

After-all the post is still yours, let your voice speak.

Formatting and Markup

Submit your post using the contact page so do so in either html or plain text format. Here are a few more tips to help in that process.

  • Subheadings: wrap any subheadings in your post in <h2> or <h3> tags.
  • Links: ideally, mark up a link and link text using HTML. Otherwise, include the URL in brackets within the prose, immediately after the text you’d like to use as the link text.
  • Paragraphs: WordPress is helpful and I try to be efficient. Let WordPress wrap your paragraphs with <p> tags.

Include everything you want to have included with your post in your submission. Include all links and link text that you want referenced. Include images and embed YouTube videos that fit.

Post Length

Your post should be as long as you need it to be in order to convey your message. We publish posts that vary greatly in length. Anything goes—length isn’t a factor, but quality is. Stick with your own style and voice, and choose a length that sits well with you.

Linking To Your Blog

In general keep links to your own blog to your byline. If there is a very compelling reason to link to content on your site, let me know why you think it is the most relevant content on the topic. This isn’t a hard and fast rule, just a guideline.

Author Byline

You’ve worked to contribute great content, so let us help you promote you. To help highlight you, your blog, or any product or service that you have to offer do it int he byline.

Bylines should contain a sentence or two explaining who you are and what you do. Feel free to include up to two links in it. Those links could be to your blog, RSS feed, or an offer page. Your byline will appear at the bottom of your post. All guest-posts will also include a short introductory sentence that will include your main link at the top of the post.

Images

I love to include images and videos in posts on Cube.Dweller.Fitness. A few suggestions for images:

  • Images can be of any size, but the maximum width is 640 pixels.
  • It’s up to you to ensure that the images you submit are able to be reused in terms of copyright.
  • Images can be illustrative (screenshots), descriptive (something that’s more attention-grabbing on the theme of the post), or anything else that you’d like to include.

To submit images send them via email, or let me know in your initial text submission on the contact form. I’ll upload them to Cube.Dweller.Fitness servers. If you have a link just include that in the text submission where you feel the image should appear.

Editing

All posts that appear on Cube.Dweller.Fitness are edited. I rarely make any significant changes, but will often tweak formatting by changing titles, reworking openings or conclusions, or correcting grammar and spelling.

Don’t be offended by this I’m just trying to help make every post as successful as possible.

If the submission seems to have some potential but isn’t quite ready for Cube.Dweller.Fitness I’ll send a post back to you with suggested additions, omissions, or changes. This just means there’s a better post waiting to be revealed. Let’s work together to make it better.

Questions

If you have any questions or concerns, please send them in via the contact form and i’ll do my best to answer them. Thanks for your interest and future involvement with Cube.Dweller.Fitness.
