YouTube Fitness | Strap Workout – NOT!

There is so much fitness content on YouTube, I’m going to start sharing the gems I unearth. Here is an insane workout from Scott Herman Fitness using wrist straps – a Strap Workout. Sure Scott’s built like a tank, but this workout is complete insanity.

Strap Workout

If you are my age you probably already own a set of wrist straps. Back in the day they were used all the time for lat pull-downs. Most of need help making our grip last long enough to work our lats; not Scott.

Instead of serving as a crutch so your grip doesn’t die – why not use them to build that grip. While I do enjoy doing towel curls with my kettlebells or trying to do towel pullups (emphasis on trying); this is just insane.

Strap Workout – Exercises, Sets, Reps

The workout consists of 5 exercises, 5 sets per exercise, 8-12 reps per exercise, and no more than 2 minutes rests between sets.

Strap Workout Exercises

  1. Strap Chin-up
  2. Strap Lat Pulldown
  3. Strap Low-Row
  4. Strap Bent-Over-Rows
  5. Strap Mr. T-Ups – “Pity the fool that can’t do this workout”

Watch Scott nail this workout and see how freakishly strong he is; isn’t just wrong.

This workout is insane. I’m still working up 3 sets of 8-12 dead hang pullups on a bar. Even if I can’t do this workout I still say this is a YouTube Fitness gem. Why?

This guy is ripped, I love his energy, and positive attitude. Guys like this keep me inspired to keep going and work harder. There is always another challenge ahead, so keep working.

Who is Scott Herman?

Scott is an inspiring young man. He’s been focused on fitness since he was very young and continued since. He produces some awesome videos on his YouTube Channel. Check this excerpt from About Scott Herman.

At the young age of fourteen, Scott applied for his first job at Gold’s Gym in Methuen, MA. By the age of fifteen he was performing gym maintenance, running the front desk, and selling memberships. When Gold’s Gym was relocated to a new 65,000 sq. ft. facility, Scott was promoted to a manager’s position. At eighteen he became a personal trainer and has been training men and woman from the ages of twelve to eighty-three ever since.

Not a bad start for a young man interested in fitness. Better yet, he has kept at it. Let his progress inspire you. Dig out those old-school wrist straps and see how your grip does.

Strap Workout

Let me know if you can do any portion of this workout. I gave it a shot and I could barely to 3 pullups. My grip just couldn’t hold on. Trying to support my weight by gripping a canvas strap was just too much for my grip. At least with the towel exercises I’ve been trying there is more material to grab.

If you try this strap workout, let me know how it goes. Stay tuned for more YouTube Fitness reviews.
