What’s in your … breakfast?

Fuel, your body needs fuel. Especially if you are exercising. The most important meal of the day is breakfast. Your body has just spent hours working to rebuild and restore from the previous day and now it needs fuel. That initial burst of fuel from breakfast is also key in helping burn fat. Without that initial energy your body decides that it is experiencing a famine and works to store energy reserves in fat; completely side-stepping any efforts you may be making to lose fat.

So … What’s in your … breakfast?

I know there is ongoing controversy around eggs, but I love them. After researching and researching information all over the interwebs I concluded that there are more benefits from starting the day with eggs than the downside. So here’s my breakfast.

  • 2 eggs fried in olive oil with:
    • Turkey sausage crumbles
    • Green Bell Pepper
    • Ground peppercorns
  • Toast with raspberry jelly.
  • Fruit bowl:
    • Kiwi
    • Blueberries
  • Pomegranate Juice

  • That sounds like an awesome breakfast. I want to make eggs for breakfast but unfortunately lack the motivation in the morning to do so.

    • I love it – just getting the fuel in the morning is motivation enough for me. I’m considering bumping up to three eggs.

We just got a Misto Olive Oil sprayer. I’ve only used it twice, but so far it makes the process even easier. Give it a try. You might get hooked.

Troy can you help…69 yrs old in pretty good health but suffered a bout with cancer lost a lot of weight now the skin is sagging. Been 2 yrs and fighting all the way but do not seem to be making procress with fatigue…Fall asleep after lunch/dinner. That’s my big meal of the day.

    • Marie,

First, keep it up. Battling with cancer and coming through is worth celebrating. Also to be 69 in an in good health is excellent, keep going.

Second, I am not equipped to give you solid advice. With your cancer history I would recommend talking with a doctor, a certified personal trainer, and a nutritionist (or some combination of those three). There are so many things that could be playing into your fatigue and affecting your progress.

You didn’t mention what you are doing for fitness. You could take a look at bodyweight training (Turbulence Training Programs), or adding kettlebells (Kettlebell Revolution). If those look interesting, talk it through with your doctor. Finding a good personal trainer will help you adapt any program to fit your needs and help you address what might be getting in your way.

Falling asleep after a meal is common. I just ate and have a strong desire to go find our futon in the sun room. (yawn). Fatigue could also be related to thyroid issues, but again, I’m not a doctor.

Please check back (or send me an email via the comment page) I’d love to hear what you discover and cheer you on.

      -Troy
